Major cashew processing project in Burkina Faso began in 2006. Most of the cashews are exported to India as raw nuts and processed there. As a result, Burkina Faso loses a significant portion of its added value. The government has responded by supporting the cashew processing industry by selling dried mangoes at premium prices. The new initiative will support the production and marketing of cashews in the country and in the region.

The Cashew Processing in Burkina Faso project will benefit nearly 2,800 women in the West African country. It will develop businesses for them around the cashew nut value chain.
